The FASHION INDUSTRY FOREVER!

“The Battle of Versailles,” written by Robin Givhan, is a new book detailing the intrigue and excitement of a 1973 charity event to raise money to fix up the decaying Versailles palace in
France.

The Fashion show wound up becoming a revolutionary happening! Here's just a few important ways the event changed the fashion industry –

For the first time, African-American models were prominently featured on the runway.

Cool, popular music was played during the fashion show

All the models were encouraged by their Designers to walk the runway, not as moving mannequins, but to showcase the clothes they wore with a more theatrical or spontaneous vibe.

The biggest change which ended up enduring from the Versailes Battle was the competition put American Designers on the Fashion map.

The charity runway competition highlighted Designer wear that was not only striking, but more in sync with the lifestyles of the modern woman, circa 1973.

Givhan’s book covers the hidden history, ego battles, and celebrity gossip, but also supports the premise – that the 1973 Fashion Show was a watershed moment in the fashion industry.

We at LALA*Style love fashion history.

Though it was not planned, the release of  the book highlights how the titans of the fashion industry back then, continue to be players in the modern world of fashion.

Oscar De LaRenta

At our LALA*Style Store we have clothes and accessories from the fashion houses of the titans who did battle in France fifty years ago. And on Memorial Day... yes, of course honor the brave warriors who fought to preserve our freedom.

GIVENCHY
But we suggest that you also spend a few seconds thinking about those brave 5ashion 5ive American Designers who gave up their designs so we could all escape the potential bodage of a brutal French Fashion Regime. Their victory at the Battle of Versailles allowed fashionistas all over the world (some not even born when the actual battle was fought) to purchase the Designer clothes and accessories of our choice!

YVES SAINT LAURENT
In our LALA*Style Store we are featuring some items for sale from the same French Designers who were losers of the 1973 Fashion Fight.
Why?
UNGARO Couture
GIVENCHY
Because we believe nothing defines "freedom" better than buying Fashion items that rock, even if they are Designed by the losers of the Battle of Versailles.

* We at LALA*Style continue to work in the trenches fighting the forever war in our mission to bring you Designer Fashions, at the best prices online.
