5ive Flashy Pairs of Shoes
Everyone should remember...
Be aware of how movies, even classic ones, skip past the
ugly.
Dorothy made the trip from Kansas to Oz …
And back to Kansas again.
All in the same pair of shoes.
Before we could see what her feet looked like after making
the entire trip in the same ruby slippers…
The movie's credits rolled.
For the record, I’ve tried clicking my heels three times…
Trust me, I still end up with corns on my feet.
Elton John's Tower High Shoes in Tommy
The first of many high heel adventures that pretty much started
with the Seventies.
The critics and fans loved Elton and his shoes in “Tommy.”
But the character ends up losing the pinball tournament to his
deaf and blind competitor.
We think the high heels had something to do with it!
Lady Gaga on the Red Carpet
From Elton… to Lady Gaga.
That's right, we believe the conspiracy theories running rampant
over the Internet –
The same designer responsible for Elton’s footwear also
fashioned Lady Gaga’s shoes.
We subscribe to the theory the designer vanished during the
80s as part of up a Witness Relocation Program.
But the designer resurfaced during this
decade and is currently working as a
consultant for Christian Louboutin.
Elaine’s Botticelli shoes
We
believe the modern obsession with Designer Shoes began in this Seinfeld
episode, first aired on February 4th, 1993, when Elaine Benes achieved social status her choice of shoes.
Episode summary: Jerry and George devise an elaborate plan
to meet Russell at Gail's restaurant, on the condition of giving to Gail
Elaine's 'Botticelli' shoes.
Sex and the City had its first episode in 1998. So there’s
no chance the HBO series celebrating Manolo Blahnik shoes can be credited for creating our modern cultual obsession with Designer Shoes.
Hope this will be enough to stop those trying to change the Gregorian Calendar to have A.D. replaced with M.B.
Cinderella
The classic fairy tale we’ve all grown up with, but perhaps
we’ve all missed two important lessons concerning footwear.
- Your shoes should fit on both feet, not just one.
Returning home with just one shoe is not a great way to end
what otherwise should have been a perfect night out.
- Do not take seriously any guy asking you to try on a
single shoe and dangling a marriage proposal as an incentive. It might be tempting
to give the suitor a pass because he has a Royal title, but we still think Dr.
Phil would have problems with how this relationship came together.
